Trailer: The Amazing Spider-Man - July 3

Directed by Marc Webb, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field.

I feel bad for the marketers (and the filmmakers to some extent) who have to pitch this movie under the shadow of Sam Raimi’s trilogy. The approach is overstated: flashy technology, dark tones, a little bit more bite in the wit, but in a lot of ways it comes out joyless. I will see it regardless and this trailer only reinstates the casting choice of Garfield as Peter Parker, but thin ice, Webb, thin ice.

*I liked it

I’ve never really been a Spider-man fan. Even the Sam Raimi version, while good, didn’t blow me away because I’m just not that into it. Of course I’ll see this, because I love seeing a story unfold, and am interested in Peter’s dad’s role with OSCORP.

If nothing else, I’m definitely attracted to Emma Stone.

This actually impressed me, I was expecting the worst after the teaser trailer. I also lost all hope after Raimi’s Spider-Man 3.

**Still wish they did a Donald Glover Spider-Man or at least get an actor who isn’t to far removed from they’re teenage years ( Logan Lerman) ; Garfield’s like 27 playing a highschooler.
